If you’ve been following The Rituals of Choice campaign for Pathfinder, or Sturms Log and Uther’s Journal for Lords of Gossamer and Shadow, I regret to inform you that those two games have been suspended. The game master for both of those games, Steve Russell of Rite Publishing, passed away on July 5th in a car accident.
Steve was a good friend, and a wonderful, generous person. I only met Steve two years ago. I had no idea who he or Rite Publishing were. He joined our Pathfinder group originally as a player in our Rappan Athuk campaign, but the game was in need of something. Then Steve took over as DM and turned our Pathfinder game on its ear. His deviation from the Pathfinder norm, his creativity, and his flexibility revived the game, at least for me.
Steve was also a strong advocate for my own writing pursuits. His knowledge of publishing, suggestions, encouragement and confidence in me facilitated the completion of my first novel, which will be published later this summer.
I am eternally grateful for the short time I knew and enjoyed being in the company of my dear friend, Steve.
Steve had a way of looking at things that was unique. We all not only lose a great friend but a brother to all of us who knew him well.
