Chosen drakin sorcerer Raziel, dwarven Weaponsmaster Tarek Ambervaile, Glowborn Salvager Eliah, and elven priest Nerian signed on with Karr Luckfinder, captain of the cloudskiff Chance, to locate the remains of Allon Hawke, the son of merchant Tomas Hawke. Before they could depart, though, Luckfinder and his crew needed to fight a duel to defend a claim Luckfinder had staked. They were successful, but in the process, Eliah got sick.  Leaving the glowborn at the Chance, the others went to the market to purchase supplies on a letter of credit from Hawke.

When it came to purchasing water for the journey, a priceless commodity in the aether, the party was challenged by the crew of the Bad Blood, another vessel preparing for departure, who claimed to have purchased some of their supplies.  While Nerian debated with the rival claimants, culminating in a mass of foliage filling the shop, the others made off with the barrels that they had purchased.

Supplies stowed, the Chance departed for the location where Luckfinder had spotted the wreck of the Raven. A few hours into the journey, Luckfinder spied a Behemoth. If they could kill it, it would provide a enough meet to feed and entire isle for a. week, and fetch a hefty sum in Gateway. The team took to it and chased down the behemoth in good order. It took lon her to fashion a tackle to pull the beast along with them.

On the return trip, the Chance was intercepted by a pirate ship.  It turned out to be the Bad Blood. Nerian negotiated with the captain, and, in the end, they were allowed to depart without the behemoth. The Bad Blood gave them two kegs of water as compensation and departed.

A few hours later, they were intercepted by a Council patrol frigate. After a cursory inspection, they were advised to be wary as there were pirates in the area and a void hole in the area they were heading toward. The crew begrudgingly thanked the officers and they departed.

They traveled into the indicated zone and found the void hole. Luckfinder skillfully avoided the hazard, but Eliah, still sick, puked and fouled the remaining food stores. As the journey continued, hunger began to have an effect. Tarik became fatigued quickly from lack of food.

After a few more hours, The Chance was shrouded in an aether fog.  Blinded by the cloud, the ship was attacked by fog sharks. They crew attempted to fend them off, but the beasts tore the Chance apart, and the crew escaped in the island hopper.

Adrift in the middle of nowhere, the crew was at the mercy of the gods.  Would they go Glowmad and tear each other apart? Or would aether beasts devour them? Maybe they would find an isle to set down upon…
