Fighting Temptation
Finlay went for the statue with short sword. Chesley grabbed Finley’s hood. Gideon tried to grab her. Lylou tried to tie him up. Chesley kept hold of the hood. Magda tried to put a sack over him.Chesley pulled Finlay away from the statue and Lylou tied him up. Finlay slipped out of Chesley’s grip and returned to the statue. Magda hit the statue. Gideon missed.
Finlay failed to slip the ropes. Gideon struck it with the hammer. Magda missed. The statue missed Magda. Lylou cast Magic Missile and shattered it.
Finlay grabbed the short sword and the party proceeded in the direction the wand indicated.
The Floating Island
They emerged into a sloping chasm with thin air. They climbed to the crest of the defile and noticed some ruined buildings and a keep.
Gideon heard voices inside the keep. Magda saw smoke coming from a chimney in the keep. Magda heard what sounded like horses.
Finlay climbed out of the chasm and noted that beyond the edge of the cliff the horizon is moving. The others followed and they continued past the ruins down a narrow path in another chasm.
At the crest of the chasm, Lylou noted that the beyond cliff before them the horizon was coming toward them.
In the meantime, Magda unlocked the door to the keepp and discovered short, dragon-like creatures trapped inside. One flipped out of the tower and spoke in what Chesley identified as English.
The creatures told them that they were magically imprisoned by the brigands in the keep. Magda asked them to help the party attack the keep. They replied that they could not attack their captors as part of the spell. The creatures said that they would take the party to the ground.
The creatures exited the keep revealing a large, smelly human with an axe. Chesley attempted to hit him with a spiked chain but missed. The being stepped out of view. Gideon pursued and attacked. The man reposted. Magda ran past them. Lylou cast sleep on the entire keep. Finlay looked into the room the being cane from and was overcome by the stench.
Lylou was stopped in her tracks by the smell. Finlay advanced to the other end of the courtyard. Chesley realized that the being was a revenant and cut off his head. Gideon tried to open the doors to the keep proper. Magda prepared for whoever might come out.
Lylou cast passed through the doors with a Passwall spell. Inside were two standing and two sleeping people. Chesley moved up and cast Bless on himself. One of the people awakened another one. Finlay entered the keep. Magda moved to where she could see through the opening. Gideon struck a man with a two-handed sword. Suddenly Lylou and Finlay were engulfed in a Web spell that blocked the entrance.
Gideon struck the swordsman again. Magda advanced to the edge of the webbing. Then the area went silent. Lylou broke free of the webs, but Finlay was caught. Chesley waited for an opportunity. One of the opponents ran away.
