Troll Spoils

Having slain the troll king, Cerulean searched the cavern for hidden spaces. In the meantime, the ranger’s companion dog started barking at a small cage concealed under the troll king’s throne. The ranger asked how it got in the cage, and the feykin was temperamental. He said that he had been tried to steal some of the troll’s loot and got caught.

K’rek recovered the troll king’s Necklace of Fireballs, Thundering Morning Star, bow, and hide armor. The ranger took some keys from the corpse and unlocked the cage. Hemlock cast Detect Magic. There was also a large map of the area mounted on the far wall. The map was labelled in Giant and identified targets for their raids. The keep of the Dancing Lady was labelled with STAY AWAY.

The feykin cast cure spells to heal his rescuers’ wounds. His name was Opalescent Flittermouse. The party elected to call him Opie. He pointed out a chest in the corner that the troll king used to gloat over. The ranger used the other key to open it. Inside was a lifesize statue of a Opie, a gold necklace with a jade pendant, some minor jewelry, five medium quality gemstones, three bottles of wine, an engraved silver tankard, and a few thousand coins. Opie also identified the amulet acquired from the two-headed troll as an Amulet of Natural Armor.

After thoroughly searching the entire complex, the party departed for Stormhaven to arrange for recovery of the building materials. They documented the region around the dwarven fortress for the next two days before returning to Stormhaven by boat with the dragons flying.

Chaos in Stormhaven

When the party returned to the city, where they announced the destruction of the trolls and distributed some of the captured wealth. The people were disgruntled about the trolls and the absentee king. Cerulean gave an inspired speech and some elected to stay. However, conditions had deteriorated so much in their absence that the kingdom devolved into anarchy.

A New Beginning

Hemlock cast a Send spell to inform Brevoy of the loss of the previous leadership and requested assistance in re-establishing the kingdom. Brevoy pledged to send whatever supplies could be assembled.
