0715 – The team has captured a Leutnant and two soldiers.
Killer covered the prisoners while Gus mounted an MG34 on the truck.
Chance interrogated the officer, and learned of an SS “special group”— SS Sondergruppe KFW2—passed through earlier in the day en route to Nieuport. The unit was memorable because it was commanded by a SS-Sturmbannführer Wassermeister, a big woman with a massive leather greatcoat, and a round, pallid face with bulging eyes and a loathsome sneer. Chance recognized the references to Deep Ones.
Clara subdued the prisoners with Chloral Hydrate while Gus tried to fix Chance’s Thompson. He was not successful, so he acquired an MP38 and 4 clips for him.
Clara stole the officer’s uniform.
Clara and Chance spotted a vehicle coming up the road toward them. The mounted the truck and drove off toward Mesegen before the reinforcements arrived.
0730 – They arrived in Mesegen. Clara noticed some people in a house. She and Chance approached and tried to communicate with them. Other neighbors noticed the exchange. Ferret noticed a man in the house across the street signaling him to get the others. He did, and they entered the house.
After a brief exchange, they learned that Angela Marcham (WOTAN) was in the attic. He provided some notes that she had written. In the attic they found her gaunt and emaciated, and unconscious. Clara attempted to revive her using every method she could think of, but was not successful. Chance discerned that she appeared to be astrally projected. At that point, the resident insisted that they take her and leave before the Germans and burned down the village.
Killer picked up WOTAN and carried her back to the truck. They donned the captured German uniforms. Killer refused, and volunteered to play the role of a prisoner if need be. Then they drove off toward Nieuport.
