At Oleg’s Trading Post

Pyotr the Hunter and his tiger Ilya, Reppa the druid and her wolf Wulfgar, Ambiorix the archaeologist, and Stormbolt the taninim trueblood sorceror, lawfully executed the bandits who came to rob Oleg’s Trading Post after interrogation.

  • Bydon told them their camp was a day’s travel south and west of the Trading Post on the Thorn River.
  • Bydon said that he and Kessle, the twin axe woman, were among a dozen bandits, but their group was just the northern outpost for the Stag Lord, who was the leader of the bandits in the Greenbelt.
  • Kessle was their leader and she alone dealt with the Stag Lord. Bydon said that their camp was just a clearing near the river with some tents.
  • Bydon said that they were given to anyone in the Stag Lord’s organization in a leadership position.
  • Bydon told them that the camp was poorly defended. One was always on a watch platform in the trees. Their tactic was to shoot anyone who approached that they did not recognize. They usual activities were to keep watch on the trade route.

The party kept the gear that they could use from the bandits and gave the rest to Oleg to recoup his losses. He offered whatever he had on hand, as well as free room and board whenever they wanted.

The Newcomer

During breakfast, an armored man entered the trading post, produced a charter, and announced himself as Froing the cleric.  He had been late to the council and assigned to join their group pacifying the Greenbelt.

Pursuing the Bandit Camp

After breakfast, the party set out to locate the bandit camp. Reppa led the way, backtracking the bandits trail. The travelled five hours before losing the trail at the edge of the forest. They made camp In a clearing just inside the trees.

The dragon, the tiger, and the wolf all went out alone to find food. Wulfgar came upon some wild boars. Reppa, through her animal empathy, saw the danger and ran to help him. Wulfgar determined that four 200 pound pigs was more than he could handle and attempted to intimidate them, but failed and ran away. The boars gave chase.  

Reppa and Wulfgar met up in the woods just before the boars showed up. They ran back toward camp. Reppa climbed a tree and Wulfgar continued toward camp. The boars surrounded the trees and menaced at her. 

In the meantime, Stormbolt had completed his meal and returned to camp. Ilya was off in the opposite direction. Wulfgar appeared in camp and alerted the others and ran back. The party followed him back. They found Reppa In a tree, surrounded.

Stormbolt fired an energy bolt, but the boar was not affected. The boars noticed the party’s arrival and charged toward them. Froing advanced. Reppa comanded Wulfgar to attack. Ambiorix advanced as well.

Stormbolt hit the other three boars with his electrical breath cone. Piotr attacked one of the boars. Two of them charged him. Two attacked Wulfgar. One hit Wulfgar. Two hit Piotr and he went down. Froing channeled positive energy to close Piotr, Stormbolt, and Wulfgar’s wounds. Reppa cast Entangle and trapped two of the boars. Wulfgar attacked the free one, but missed. Ambiorix attacked but missed the boar as well.

Stormbolt hit the unentangled boar near Piotr with an energy missile. Then he skirted the entangled zone to approach Piotr. The unentangled boar attacked Stormbolt and gored him. The other boar near Piotr freed itself and ran away, deeper into the entangle zone. Wulfgar bit the large boar. Reppa flared the boar that attacked Stormbolt.

Stormbolt got back up. The boars attempted to run away and got entangled. The largest one gored Wulfgar and he went down. Froing channeled positive energy and healed Stormbolt and Wulfgar back into the fight. Wulfgar rose and attacked, but missed. Reppa cast Flare on the one Wulfgar was attacking. Ambiorix hit the boar.  

Stormbolt attacked the boar, but missed. The boar gored him and he went down again. Froing attacked the boar, but missed. Reppa climed down from the tree, but got entangled herself. Wulfgar bit the boar savagely. Ambiorix dropped it.
Stormbolt continued bleeding. The boar attempted to flee and got entangled. Froing domain healed Stormbolt. Reppa was unable to get free of the Entangle. Wulfgar killed the fallen boar. Ambiorix attacked an entangled boar, but missed.
The boars remained entangled. Froing domain healed Stormbolt again. Reppa fled the entanglement. Wolfgar missed his boar. Ambiorix hit the boar.

One of the boars broke free. Froing domain healed Stormbolt back to consciousness. Reppa got entangled again. Wulfgar missed.

Stormbolt rose and cast Energy Missile at the free boar, but missed. The boar attempted to run away. Wulfgar bit it hard before the boar got entangled again. Froing leapt to Piotr and channeled positive energy to heal Stormbolt, Wulfgar and Piotr. Reppa remained entangled. Wulfgar menaced the entangled boar near him. Ambiorix switched to his crossbow.

Stormbolt cast his last Energy Missile, but missed. Piotor revived. One of the boars freed itself and ran away. Froing leapt out of the entangle field. Reppa dispelled the Entanglement. Ambiorix shot his crossbow, but missed. 

 The boars ran away and the party did not pursue them.  They had enough meat in the 200 pound boar they had killed for everyone.
