Chosen drakin sorcerer Raziel, dwarven Weaponsmaster Tarek Ambervaile, Glowborn Salvager Eliah, and elven priest Nerian signed on with Karr Luckfinder, captain of the cloudskiff Chance, to locate the remains of Allon Hawke, the son of merchant Tomas Hawke. After a skirmish in the marketplace, where Eliah fell ill, they departed toward the location where Luckfinder had seen the wreck of the Raven, Allon’s ship.
After several days of boredom and restless sleep, the crew was in finally in good health when Nerian spied several vessels in the distance. There were two sky sloops, a cloud skill, and a frigate. Luckfinder identified them as an Oricsh War Raft, though it appeared that they only saw a handful of crew through the spyglass. Eliah was keen to raid the vessel as it was likely rife with salvage. Luckfinder countered that there was a reason for so few crew. Either the raiders were out raiding, it was a trap, or something had killed the crew. In the end, they elected to bypass the war raft.
Shortly after the war raft disappeared from view, Luckfinder announced that they had arrived at the isle where he saw the wreck of the Raven. They searched the surface with the spyglass and discovered that the ship had crashed into a tower, which had fallen on to it. The vessel was throughly wrecked.
Raziel, Tarik, Eliah, and Nerian took the island hopper to the crash site. As they approached, they were pelted with rocks by apes on the surface. The team killed a few and the rest ran off. They landed on the deck of the ship. Searching the fore and aft cabins, Eliah found some forks with a bird engraved on them. The shop was definately the Raven. The deck itself was unstable. With each step, the boards creaked, and cracked in places under their weight.
While Nerian searched the forecastle, Raziel lowered a rope to climb down to the lower deck, but misjudged the distance and fell. She was immedately overcome by the stench of decay. This deck was largely filled with debris, and powder for the wrecked cannons was scattered everywhere. Eliah and Tarek joined her. A search of the area revealed little of value save for some coins and a single intact barrel of powder, which Tarek took.
Eliah descended crude steps created by the debris into the hold, where she was attacked in the darkness by more apes. As the others came to her aid, more apes emerged, Nerian lit a lantern, and once illuminated, the beasts were quickly dispatched, revealing a couple hundred cogs worth of salvage.
Exploring further into the wreck, Eliah found a small tunnel into the tower ruins where the stench was even stronger. They followed it and discovered a decomposing corpse, which was the source of the smell. Raziel heard weeping coming from a stairwell down to the basement of the tower. While the others followed Raziel down the stairs, Eliah burned the body.
At the bottom of the steps was an armory, but one wall had collapsed exposing the room to the voidglow. On the far wall, an obese humanoid knelt, scratching at the wall crying that it wanted to go home. Scattered about the room were several skeletons, one of whom was wearing the hawk embroidered gloves that they were looking for.
When they entered the room, the skeletons animated and attacked. The fight was going poorly until Tarek slew the humanoid, which had been controlling the skeletons. It was a grisly puppeteer. The remaining skeletons collapsed. The crew collected several hundred cogs worth of salvageable weapons, as well as the gloves, an iron charm of a behemoth, and an amulet.
