Zombie Trap
Sneaking up the hill toward the Stag Lord’s palisade, Stormbolt was surprised to see zombies emerge from the ground about halfway up.
They massed around him, and was hit by one’s claws. Stormbolt withdrew to Oostend and Lucee’s position. Oostend bit one that attacked him.
Lucee laid hands on one and destroyed it. The other zombies closed. Stormbolt and Oostend withdrew. Lucee followed the others.
Stormbolt ran full out back toward camp to collect Froing. Oostend and Lucee followed, at a run. Oostend stopped and threw Acid Splashes. More zombies appeared beside Oostend and Lucee. They withdrew at full speed.
Stormbolt intercepted the other two. They continued to retreat. The zombies stopped following when they reached the base of the hill.
Return in Force
They returned to camp and informed Froing of the zombie trap. The decided to sneak up the road to gather information about the fort. It was almost a new moon, so it was pretty dark. They set out with Froing keeping a hand on Oostend’s shoulder.
They snuck up all the way to the gate and found that it was latched. Someone in a nearby tower heard the gate creak and looked inside the wall. Stormbolt climbed up the wall stealthily and Froing cast a Silence spell when he reached the top. The others waited by the gate for the guards to be dispatched.
Stormbolt saw the guard looking over the wall as he reached the top. Stormbolt killed him with a breath charged bite and climbed into the tower and hid below the low wall.
At the same time, Oostend cast Mage Hand and lifted the latch on the gate. Lucee pushed the gate and screeched as it opened.
