Big Bugs!
Having spied the giant wasp nest on the ceiling of the huge, 60’ high chamber with the fourteen, gem-inlaid columns supporting the roof. Finlay proceeded to remove gems from the column he had climbed. But they were merely pieces of blue quartz worth maybe 10sp each. He spied larger moonstones on the next deeper column.
In the meantime, the giant wasps were wary, but avoided Finlay on account of the fly butter that he and Gideon has covered their bodies with. Several more of the insects emerged from the nest and flew about the chamber.
Lylou had entered the chamber and cast Detect Magic, but she did not detect anything in the range of the spell. The others entered the chamber and were threatened by the giant wasps.
Lylou advanced the the far end of the chamber, where there was an altar. On the altar was an open book. It was a spellbook with but one spell, a specific form of Summon. Lylou couldn’t help herself, and soon a terrible monstrous fly with just enough hint of human in it to be absolutely disgusting appeared.
Gideon engaged the abomination as the giant wasps attacked the rest of the party. Eventually, the heroes had all coated themselves in the fly butter, rendering them invulnerable to the wasps, and the fly-being was defeated.
