Lair of the Hodag
The party elected to leave Stormhaven and explore the area near the Fey compound. They found a mound of vegetation with many openings of various sizes. One of them was large enough for humanoids to enter.
Cerulean scanned the area and noted that the passage beyond the opening curved out of view. He entered followed by the rest of the party. Down an incline they came upon a enlarged space containing a spike-covered, vaguely reptilian creature with dagger-sharp teeth and glowing red eyes. The ranger identified it as a Hodag, and noted that they were notoriously short-tempered, especially when their lairs are entered.
Cerulean breathed acid on the creature. The ranger and her dog charged in and flanked the creature. K’rek and B’kun entered the space and closed on the creature. The hodag bit and gored the ranger, tail slapped the dog, and clawed the boar. The feykin and assessed the situation.
The dragon closed and traded snaps at with the monster. Hemlock entered the chamber and noted small openings that were too small for another creature to come through. The ranger struck it with her sword. The dog attempted to trip it ineffectually. K’rek and B’kun attacked. The kobold challenged the monster and sliced it, and killed it.
They searched the area and found some armor and weapons. The dog explored the small openings but did not find anything else living there.
Assaulting the Fey Stronghold
After exploring for the rest of the day and camping for the night, the party decided to the area around the fey stronghold. As before, the region was creepy and unnaturally quiet, When they made camp, it was even more so, but nothing happened overnight.
The next day the documented the rest of the area and found a camp just out of site of the fey tower; the one left by the previous group. There they planned their assault on the fey ruins.
In the morning, the dragons flew over the walls to survey the ruins. There was nothing obvious in view. The ranger approached to deal with the strangling vines. She stuck the vines with her sword, Hedgetrimmer. The vines shriveled and rotted away. Cerulean kept watch on the roof. Hemlock watched their backs. The feykin positioned himself next to one of the arrow slits, which he was small enough to fit through. K’rek positioned B’kun to charge into the tower once the door was opened.
The ranger opened the door and peaked within. She noted a fey being waiting on the side of the door to attack whoever entered. K’rek kobold charged through the door and was clawed. The kobold then lanced the being. Hemlock hit the fey with a Scorching Ray. The feykin squeezed through the arrow slit and viewed the fight from above. He scanned the rest of the tower but saw no other opponents. The fey leapt up and through the window into Cerulean’s sights. The dragon hit it with a breath charged bite, a claw and a wing.
The ranger and the dog searched the inside and found no other threats inside the tower. Hemlock cast Magic Missile and struck the fey again. The feykin buzzed by the foe, missed his attack, and was savagely clawed by his target. The monster clawed at Cerulean but could not pierce his scales. The dragon struck back with a bite, claw and wing, and ripped the fey in half.
While the feykin cured himself, the others searched and found a chest containing the valuables from the previous party.
