At Plunging Stream Manor

Cham asked about the Taurian boy that Zewthra was alleged to have killed.  She was found standing over his body.  The boy had been marked by a rune of divine blessing.

Oobleck was concerned about how they had arrived at the manor.  It should have taken two weeks travel to get there.  Instead, they had apparently been teleported to the doorstep and asleep for two weeks.  Vethkar said that Zewthra had attacked people before, but not in their dreams, as far as he knew.  It was apparently relatively easy to travel from the Plane of Dreams t0 Questhaven.

Cham asked about Zewthra’s sword.  Vethkar said that she had inherited the sword from her mother.

Zewthra then produced some finger paints and started drawing on Ezzerkash.  Cham recognized the symbols as a token of fellowship and a good luck talisman, that also created a type of mystical link between Zewthra and her fellowship.

Cham realized that Zewthra was a Circle Witch or Circle Warden, who bonded with a fellowship rather than a single companion.  After an hour, she had drawn a Wreath of Community on him.  Then she released a Channel of Positive Energy and healed the party.

Vethkar asked what they needed t0 c0llect prior to departure.  The journey would be easier after they left the Drifting Glade, where the terrain became an open, wind-swept plain.  The only known denizens of that region were the Black Sky Centaur tribe.  Oobleck knew that they were a group of aloof stargazers who were very private, but friendly.  They were known to consult the stars about everything, whereby their demeanor might change.  They were centered around Black Sky Butte.

On the Road

Plunging Stream Manor was located at the edge of the Drifting Glade.  About an hour into the journey, a rapid spring rainstorm turned the path to mud and slowed their movement.  Before them, a lone land mass floating in the sky.  Through the heavy rain, Ezzerkash and Oobleck noted a large tree growing out of the floating land mass, whose roots had dug into the ground below.  Vethkar started to cough, and Zewthra dragged him along.

Ezzerkash advanced to where the rain no longer obscrued his vision and spied two small, chitonous entities before some beds of sparkling stones that reminded him of gems.  He could not understand their speech.  He approached the beings.

Then three more of the beings swung down around him and clawed him in the face.  And then they attempted to pile on top and one grappled him.  Brynjar moved in to the area beneath the floating land mass and saw the small beings attacking the dragon.  He recognized them as Spine Grapplers.  He advanced and attacked the one grappling Ezzerkash.  The creature went down.  Ezzerkash fired his breath weapon and hit one with electricity.  Bazyl advanced.  Slimy advanced.  Oobleck fired a sling bullet at one, but hit Bazyl by accident.  Cham moved under the cover and shot an arrow, but missed.  Zewtha used her sword to wipe the water off of her father.

The Spine Grapplers attacked Ezzerkash again,  but he felt a warm sensation and the attacks were deflected.  And then two grappled him.  Brynjar missed.  Ezzerkash clawed and bit one.  Bazyl advanced to Ezzerkash and cast Cure Light Wounds on Ezzerkash.  Oobleck cast Magic Stone.  Slimy slammed toward one grappling Ezerkash.  Cham moved into position and shot again.

The grapplers pummeled Ezzerkash, and then another hit him and the dragon was disabled.  Brynjar attacked again and missed.  Ezzerkash freed himself from the grapple.  Bazyl cured the wyrmling again.  Oobleck slung a magic stone, but missed.  Slimy slammed one, but it evaded.  Cham shot again and missed.

The Spine Grapplers hit Ezzerkash again and he went unconscious.  Brynjar attacked and missed.  Bazyl cured Ezzerkash again.  Oobleck shot another magic stone and killed one.  Slimy slammed and missed.  Cham shot again and missed.

The Spine Grapplers charged Oobleck.  Slimy slammed one as it passed and grabbed it.  Brynjar attacked the one on Slimy and killed it.  Bazyl attacked the one on Oobleck but missed.  Ezzerkash stood and advanced toward Oobleck.  Oobleck cast Club but missed and hit himself.  Slimy attacked and hit the last Spine Grappler.  Cham shot and missed again.

The Spine Grappler hit Slimy twice and then grappled it.  Brynjar advanced and missed.  Bazyl hit with his morning star and killed it.

Bazyl channeled positive energy and then cured Ezzerkash.  Cham and Brynjar examined the shiny stones.  They realized that they were Spine Grappler eggs, and there were hundreds of them.  Ezzerkash smashed them, while they waited in the shelter of the floating land mass for the rain to stop.  Brynjar found Zewthra drawing on the back of his neck with finger paint.

Six hours later, the rain stopped.  Once out of the Drifting Glade, they came upon a wind swept plane.  There was a butte, their destination, in the distance.  The wind was coming from behind them, so their movement was not impeded, and they set up camp as the sun set.

In Camp

On the second watch, Ezzerkash saw fin-backed saber-tooth creatures ripped an eye out of Brynjar, Zewthra and Vethkar.
