The Green Men Attack
They continued on. Shortly after mid day, as the progressed through a ravine, a group of Green man raiders charged at them mounted on war gashants. Craven shot one off its mount and then Kallor maimed the mount. Ruhkgar, barely functional, heroically had his war gashant kill the fallen green man. Niven shot and wounded the next one.
Craven finished the second one off, but it was entangled in its tack and its gashant ran off with the body. The remaining three green raiders closed with their greatswords. One attacked Ruhkgar but missed. One attacked Craven and knocked him down. One attacked Niven but missed. Niven stepped back and shot his attacker. Ruhkgar spurred his war gashant to attack and the one on Niven and knocked it down. Kallor killed the maimed gashant in front of him.
Craven finished off another. Kallor attacked the fallen one near Ruhkgar but failed to pierce its armor. The green man recovered and missed Kallor with its sword. The other hit Niven and he was incapacitated. Ruhkgar hit another and knocked it down.
The surviving green men attacked. One recovered from its hit. The other knocked Craven down. Kallor killed his foe. Ruhkgar charged the last one, but missed. Craven took a swing at it, but also missed. The green man then missed him. Kallor shot and killed the last one.
Kallor gave Niven and Craven first aid. He patched up Niven well, and bandaged Craven sufficiently to keep moving. However, Craven, Niven and Ruhkgar were all injured to varying degrees.
Given the savage attack by the green men, the heroes elected to make camp on the high ground. They could see the mountains in the distance. They staked the gashants together. They did not make a fire. Craven took the first watch and allowed Ruhkgar to sleep by taking the next watch as well. There were no disturbances. Niven took over, but all was quiet.
3 green marauders. Two killed before they could attack. One leaped onto gashant and knocked wrangler off. Kallor and Niven shot it.
Found thorn patch. Pack gashant eaten by Cistan. Saw airship disappear behind mountain.
Past thorn patch ground is rocky and flat. Saw cargo hauler fly out of mountain, which was volcano. Craters from nicest impacts all around. Found crater to camp in.
Craven on second watch attacked by Karssa Shoshu. Attempted to activate Deflection power. Niven woke up and shot it.
Red man bandits approach. Kallor saw some on watch. Others leapt into crater to steal women. Niven woke and shot leader.
No encounters through midday. Found crater with lava tube. Continued closer. No encounters. Found another lava tube. Seen by men in flyer. Wrangler herd gashants into crater. Angry woman challenges the flyer. Other woman gestures to them in welcome. Niven, Craven and Kallor waved as well. The men in flyer shot at them. Killed angry woman. Wounded Niven. Ruhkgar leapt into craft. They flew away.
