Gideon Dubhghall, Man at Arms, Chesley Walt the Cleric, Father Wyn Modeste, Adamina Lylou the Mage, and Finlay Lorin, Adventurer, and the woman Magda they had come upon on the road had commandeered an abandoned house in Zellingen for the night.
Shortly before dawn, the village was attacked by an ankheg. The party made quick work of the beast.
After searching the other abandoned home houses for supplies, which yielded some small gems and some rations, they departed for Wurzburg.
They traveled for a few hours when the road passed through a stand of straggly evergreens. Something about the copse was unsettling. They searched for a cause but found none, and the uneasiness continued as they journeyed on.
In mid-afternoon, the party was crossing an old stone bridge when they heard whispering voices from below. Trolls, they thought, and Finley snuck down to see. Instead he found a gang of 8-10 year olds who mobbed him. Gideon and Adamina came to Finley’s aid and scared the children off. Searching the lair they found some rations. They left half of them.
As the sun set, the party reached Wurzburg. With Magda’s assistance, they were admitted to the palace through the servants’ entrance in search of her relative, who was a cook. But the cook was not pleased to see Magda and refused to help her.
On their way out, the party was intercepted by a nobleman. After a brief interview, Lord Torsten Meyr, the Prince-Bishop’s security chief, offered a bounty for the heads on The Seven, the witches who had taken over Karlstadt.
The party was taken to see the Prince-Bishop where they learned that the Swedish king was bent on destroying Wurzburg because he believed that the Prince-Bishop was supporting The Seven.
The Prince-Bishop offered 1000 sp per head, and an additional 3000 sp for all seven, if they could be delivered to Wurzburg before the Swedes arrived in five days. The party agreed to pursue the bounty and negotiated for all their supplies.
