The elven ranger led the party the site of the ancient dwarven fortress. They camped for the night, which was uneventful.
In the morning, Cerulean flew over and reconnoiter. Nothing attacked him and he saw a troll lazing on the top of a tower. There was a narrow path winding up the side of the mountain that led to the entrance.
Cerulean breathed on the troll, who fled down a trap door. Hemlock snuck closer. Two trolls emerged from the door. The ranger and her dog companion flanked them. The elf slashed one. Trent enhanced K’rek’s lance with acid. K’rek and B’kun closed and attacked, but missed.
Cerulean landed on the tower and opened the trap door He saw a spiral staircase and the burning troll below. Hemlock attacked but missed. The trolls attacked. One missed K’rek. The other clawed and bit the ranger. The ranger struck her opponent multiple times. Trent cast Lifeline and linked with the party other than the dragon. K’rek stabbed one with his lance.
Cerulean flew down the center of the tower and followed the troll down a tunnel. Hemlock cast Magic Missile on the ranger’s opponent. The troll ran down a side tunnel and out of view. Another troll clawed and rent K’rek. The other clawed the ranger. She rent it back and it went down. Trent channeled energy and healed the wounded party members. K’rek and B’kun
Cerulean pursued the troll and breathed acid on it. Hemlock shot acid at the downed troll and killed it. The fleeing troll found another troll and a troll hound who attacked Cerulean. The troll clawed him and the troll hound leapt and bit him. The elf attacked the remaining troll and it went down. K’rek stabbed the fallen troll with acid and pushed it off the cliff.
Cerulean hit the troll with a bite and a wing slap. Hemlock entered the fortress and saw the dragon fighting down the hall. He cast Magic Missile on the troll. The troll and troll hound attacked Cerulean. He was bit and clawed by the troll. The ranger advanced into the fortress and shot the troll with an arrow. The dog attempted to trip the troll. Trent pushed the other troll off the cliff. K’rek prepared to charge.
Cerulean hit the troll again with a bite and a wing slap. Hemlock moved up and cast Scorching Ray. The troll clawed Cerulean. The troll hound bit him. The elf shot the troll again. The dog retreated. Trent moved into the fortress. K’rek charged the troll hound and skewered it.
Cerulean backed up and breathed and killed the troll and the troll hound. Hemlock advanced. The last troll attacked K’rek and missed. The ranger shot the troll with an arrow. The dog ran into the room beyond the troll and down a side tunnel and into loud, angry barking. Trent healed himself of the wounds he absorbed from the others. K’rek stabbed the troll severely and killed it.
