At the Monastery

How would they get the Father to the Warehouse past the German patrols?

Gus proposed disguising as monks to get out, but Father Andrej would be hard to control.

He then proposed borrowing a cart and stuffing Father Andrej into a crate.

He then proposed keeping Father Andrej at the monastery.  Chance said he did not expect the monks to be able to guard him.

Then he proposed seeing the abbot to borrow a vehicle.  The abbot said a delivery could be arranged.

Zajic said any delivery man would help or they would be made to help.

A delivery was arranged with the baker.

They searched Father Andrej’s quarters.  They found several items of interest:

  • A letter from Himmler to von Kammerstein
  • Various innocuous documents related to Black Sun
  • The official authority to act in all matters of a supernatural nature working under the auspices of the archaeological and historical research department, the Ahnenerbe, and report directly to Himmler as a department of the SS.
  • Black Sun/Ahnenerbe research teams have criss-crossed the globe investigating local legends and ancient ruins in the search of ancient magics and objects of power, such as the book.
  • The empty black wooden box.  Chance finds some faint runes carved inside.  A monk identifies the runes as Viking type runes indicating that the box is a landing zone or target.  Chance hypothesizes that the box is the target for the Devouring Retribution spell, and that the spell may summon some monster to it.

Killer noticed that Father Andrej had regained consciousness, despite his attempts to conceal it.  He alerted the others and Chance returned to question him.

Father Andrej saw that Tomas was holding the box and showed resignation.

They ungagged him and he confessed that the box was the target for the Vanish spell.

Father Andrej tried to bargain with knowledge of Himmler’s support and the Black Sun, but Chance revealed that they already found his papers.

Chance asked if the box could be a target for the Devouring Retribution spell.  He said that he didn’t know.

Tomas asked if the flute was related to the spell.  He said no.

Chance told Father Andrej that they were going to put him in the custody of the Resistance for his own well being.

Tomas told the Father that they were leaving the monastery and that he would shoot him if he tried anything.  Father Andrej was starting to lack whether they had the authority to do so.

Chance explained to Father Andrej that, since the Germans were looking for him, they were going to smuggle him out in the crate.  The Father said he was better off with the team than with the Germans.

The baker came and the truck was loaded without incident.

The truck was stopped by a patrol, but the driver smoothed them through.

At the Warehouse

Gus and Tomas dropped the crate and it broke open with a crash.

It attracted the attention of some German sentries.

They managed to get everyone into the warehouse before the Germans arrived.

Chance stayed behind, and the delivery man reappeared.  They had an argument for the benefit of the Germans and Chance got “fired” before the baker drove off.

That satisfied the Germans, who went back to their post.

They debated what to do with Father Andrej.

Tomas suggested giving the Father to the ghouls.

Chance was against sacrificing him.  He said that all the ghouls wanted was for them to “deal with him,” which they did.

Gus suggested putting the box in the cage and giving him a choice of going with the ghouls or teleporting back into the cell.

The team planned to infiltrate the castle.

Chance said that they needed to find explosives in order to destroy the lab.

Zajic pointed to a steamer trunk that Chance was sitting on and it was found to contain shape charges.

Chance said that the plan was to use the ghoul tunnels to infiltrate.  The issue was getting the children out.

Chance suggested getting swords or other melee weapons.  He asked the resistance, and they said they could probably acquire some for them.

Tomas asked Father Andrej if he every teleported more than one person.  He said he never tried.

Chance asked him how he got the children out.  The Father said he took them out through the ghoul tunnels and used Cloud Memory to make them forget their entire ordeal at the castle.

Chance reiterated that the plan was to enlist the help of the ghouls.  Nothing would be done to sabotage that.
