Nixie Gratitude
Having defeated the scythe tree and returning to the dryad for their reward, the party made their way back to the nixie to restore her grove. They traveled for two days without incident before they reached the ford. They continued on and were attacked by a will-o-the-wisp, which Stormbolt defeated easily. The next day they gave the dryad’s feathers to the nixie, who promptly planted them. In gratitude, the nixie offered her assistance when needed. Then they returned to Stormhome.
Kingdom Building
Upon return to the capitol, the Royal Retinue was greeted with signs of unrest lingering from the rabble-rouser’s previous rants. The shrine produced a minor magic item. The kingdom annexed the neighboring forest en route to the nixie’s grove and built a sawmill there.
K’rek recruited capable citizens to start building a militia. Then he and Aeldred went to the Sootscale village.
Stormbolt met with the ombudsman regarding issues from the citizens. The report was good. No issues other than some disgruntled lumberjacks who were now in better spirits on account of the sawmill.
Froing went to the shrine and discovered a small regular gathering there, but no one interested in becoming an adventuring cleric. He also acquired leather armor and a short sword for his horse’s groom.
Return to Brevoy
Having spent a week in the capitol, Stormbolt and his advisors set out to sell the larger wares they had collected in Brevoy by way of Oleg’s Trading Post. Early on the second day out, the party came upon a shambling mound.
K’rek charged with his lance and wounded the monster. Lucee closed. Stormbolt flew in and fired his electrical breath weapon on it. The shambling mound hit K’rek and grappled him. Oostend closed on the monster. Froing rode up.
K’rek attacked with his longsword and sliced it. Lucee closed, but was hit and grappled. Her strike missed. He minion shot a sling, but missed. Stormbolt closed and bit it. The mound constricted K’rek and Lucee. Oostend waded in and bit it. Froing channeled positive energy.
K’rek struck with his sword and the shambling mound was killed.
On the third day, they arrived at Stormbolt’s mine. The kobold guards reporting nothing amiss. Stormbolt went into the mine and planned out its decoration. They spent the night in the mine.
They travelled two more days, stopping to pick more radishes, before arriving at the trading post. Oleg and his wife were pleased to see the royal entourage and the party stayed there for the night. They resupplied for the journey to the city.
Into the City
The five day journey from Oleg’s to Brevoy was uneventful on proper roads patrolled by militia. Brevoy was lively with activity. The party was the subject of many dirty looks, especially K’rek and Stormbolt.
The first order of business was to sell the trade goods they had collected. Then they found buyers for the gems and jewelry. Selling the Human-Bane Dagger was problematic, which aroused the suspicion of the militia. However, Stormbolt’s royal status cowed the guards, who left apologetically.
In the end, they sold their goods for a total of 18,420 gp.
