The fight seemed evenly matched. Lylou managed to cast Hold Person on the opposing mage before he could escaple, but neither the party nor the holders of the keep had suffered any appreciable damage. The cleric who appeared to be the leader of the inhabiting group called for a ceasing of hostilities and dismissing of enchantments to parlay.
The party agreed over Gideon’s objections. When asked by they had enchanted the Equinians, the cleric replied that the the creatures would kill them all if spell broken. He asked the party to join them in raiding a fortified town in exchange for transport on Skye Rock toward London, where they could find a ship to take them back to Germany.
While they were negotiating, Finlay was fixated on the green gem eyes in a six armed pagan idol at the far end of the room. He slowly snuck around the perimeter toward it. Magda called everyone’s attention to the statue, which the cleric said had been in the keep when their group arrived on Skye rock.
The party was not inclined to accept an offer from a group of bandits. They asked to discuss the matter in private and left the keep. On the way out, the Mage offered to share their hoard with Finlay if he got the party to join them.
Gideon asked the Equinians how they came to be captive. They said that when they landed on the rock, they encountered the humans unexpectedly, and the initial reactions were adversarial. The party did not trust the bandits. Lylou wondered how they got to Skye Rock in the first place.
When they returned to the keep, they were met in the courtyard by two of the bandits, but not their leaders. Gideon said that all they wanted was passage from the rock. The bandits went back into the keep to consider their own options.
Suddenly, Lylou shot at by the cleric on top of one of the towers. Magda and Gideon rushed and broke down the door to the keep. The mage appeared on another tower and threw glowing green balls of energy at Lylou. She responded by casting Magic Missile at the cleric and the mage, but the bolts went in the opposite direction and disappeared into the keep.
Big green blob appeared from inside the keep and pummeled Magda and Gideon with tentacles. The fighters managed to break free from its grip. Finlay was compelled to attack Lylou and clubbed her with his bow.
The blob hit Magda and Gideon again, and the fighters were getting seriously injured. Chesley healed Lylou. Then the mage demanded that the heroes lay down their weapons. The party complied. Gideon reiterated that they only wanted to leave.
