Having surrendered to the bandits inhabiting Skye Rock, Lylou and company were disarmed and put in a windowless tower for a few hours.
During that time, Chesley healed the party’s wounds while Finlay looked for a means of escape. Lylou even attempted a Knock spell, but a Magic Mouth admonished her for pursuing such an obvious means of escape.
Some time later, the group was brought back to the keep to parlay. Godfrey, the cleric and leader of the bandits again offered the opportunity to join their raid on the town of Rudgely. He also offered the option to be dropped off in wilderness in opposite direction from their target.
The heroes still did not trust the bandits, and they were convinced that the six-armed idol had either something to do with Skye Rock’s levitation, or with the servitude of the Equinians. They chose to join the raid to give Finlay time to steal gems from idol.
Since most of the bandits did not speak German, and only Gideon and Chesley spoke English, Lylou and Ross the bandits’ mage researches a means for the two groups to understand each other. Eventually they succeed in enchanting a keg of beer to enable everyone to understand any language.
While they were doing that, Gideon and Finlay left the keep to talk in private and were accosted by the Equinians. The flying lizards were disappointed that the heroes had decided joined the bandits until they could make their escape. Gideon assured them that they were just buying time.
At dinner that evening, the enchanted brew was distributed and was found to be quite potent. The bandits all got drunk. While the others distracted them, Finlay plucked all six gems from the idol.
