27 May 1940

2000 – Came upon a house among the trees.  Ferret and Killer were spotted by the armed civilian.  He shot Ferret twice and Killer once, but their armor absorbed it.  Killer saw that the shooter was a civilian and asked him to hold his fire in French.  They made a critical success to impart that they were friendly and were invited into the house.  They enlisted Clara to help an old woman who was shot, and she successfully cleaned and dressed the wound.

Chance gave the civilians some of their rations.  The civilians offered to let them stay in the house overnight, but recommended crossing the river north of Ypres under cover of darkness.  They said that the Germans were laying siege to Ypres all day and were firing their artillery to the west.  Any shots that missed the town were landing on the fields west of it

28 May 1940

0000 – The team rested for 4 hours before leaving under cover of darkness.

0400 – The team made it to the outskirts of Ypres.  Ferret found a boat on the river, and Gus ferried them across.  A single shot flew by them, but no one was hit, and the opposite shore was free of enemy soldiers.

0600 – came upon an encamped German patrol.  They carefully avoided being spotted because Clara spotted them first.  Ferret noticed several of the Germans disappear from the light of their campfire.  Then they heard them crashing through the underbrush.

Chance and Ferret attempted to sneak around to the other side of their camp, avoiding two machine gun nests.  Chance managed to make it into concealment.  Ferret got spotted, but dropped to the ground and disappeared behind a small bush.

Clara attempted to sneak across to Chance, but got spotted by a patrol.  However, they were distracted by her being a woman.  Clara distracted them while Gus snuck up into a position to open up with his Thompson.

Then Killer snapped a twig and was spotted by the machine gunner.  Chance opened up on one machine gun nest and killed the gunner.  Killer and Ferret both fired their Thompsons at the other, but missed.  Clara dove for cover and a German shot Ferret in the abdomen.  Gus opens up with his Thompson and kills the three sentries.  The one machine gunner did not have a target.  The other gun was not manned in time.

Chance gunned down the second machine gun nest, while Killer gunned own the other.  Clara rushed to Ferret and dressed his wound, which was a clean shot and closed nicely.  The Germans advanced on their position.  Gus opened up with his Thompson and killed three more.  One of the two remaining dropped his rifle and raised his hands.  Ferret levelled his rifle on the other, and he surrendered.  The team looted the Germans for their weapons and ammo, including the remaining MG34 and two boxes of ammo.
