Crossing the River
Seeking a ford across the river to consult the dryad, Stormbolt flew and followed it north until he discovered a stretch where it could be crossed to and island, and then crossed again on the other side. However, there was a tatztlwyrm sunning itself on the island and another hiding at the opposite end of the island. He informed the others, who prepared to attack the sleeping one while he attacked the other.
Stormbolt swooped on and hit the hiding tazltwyrm with his breath weapon. Lucee missed the sleeping one with an arrow. Froing shot the sleeping one. Lucee’s minion waited for a shot. The sleeping one rose and Aeldred shot it. The wyrms advanced toward the party. K’rek prepared for their attack.
Stormbolt bit his target. Lucee moved into position. Froing shot his crossbow and retreated. Lucee’s minion advanced to her side. The tatzlwyrms attacked Stormbolt. The one he bit bit and then grappled him. The other one missed. Aeldred shot at the one holding Stormbolt and hit it. Lucee and K’rek closed to engage.
Stormbolt bit the creature with a breath-charged bite and killed it. He was released from its grip. Froing advanced. Lucee’s minion and shot her sling, but missed. The remaining wyrm attacked Stormbolt and hit with a bite and two claws. Aeldred shot and missed. Lucee attacked and killed the other one.
They searched the island and found a previous victim of the wyrms who had magical scale mail armor and a cold iron sword.
They returned to the east bank of the river and made camp inland from the shore. The kobolds caught a quantity of fish that fed everyone comfortably. The night passed without any encounters.
They next day they crossed the river and explored the other side until nightfall. That night was also uneventful.
Seeking the Dryad
In the morning, they traveled south to explore the region where the dryad was said to be. They did not find her on the first day. The next night was quiet. Froing attempted to attract the dryad to no avail.
They continued exploring, they found a peaceful grove where a woman was crying. She detected as magical. Froing approached and attempted to make contact. She told him that areas nearby were being attacked by a scythe tree, a carnivorous tree that killed other trees.
Aeldred bargained that the party would deal with the menace in exchange for trees for the nixie. The dryad offered tree feather tokens, which would spring into trees when planted. She said provided precise directions to it’s blighted grove just to the south. He also advised the dryad of the new kingdom and pledged her support if the party could defeat the scythe tree.
They camped in the dryad’s grove for the night.
The Blighted Grove
In the middle of the morning, the party uncovered a clearing the forest that was sickly and strewn with animal bones. They advanced carefully, scanning for magic, evil and undead, until they reached the edge and detected evil and magic. The tree closed and attacked Oostend with branches. Froing cast Shield of Faith on Lucee.
Stormbolt shot his breath weapon and scorched the tree. Lucee charged the tree. It struck her. Lucee struck back hard. K’rek challenged the tree and charged. He struck it wth his lance and did serious damage, but the lance was stuck in the trunk. Oostend advanced and cast evolution surge to gain Fire energy attacks. The tree attacked K’rek and hit twice. Froing cast Heat Metal on the remains of the lance.
The kobold advanced and hit with her sling. Stormbolt shot the Wand of Magic Missile. Lucee missed with her sword. K’rek attacked with sword, but it bounced off. Oostend hit with a flaming claw and sting. The tree erupted into flame and died.
The party contained the fire and then searched the area. They found scattered coins, a silver ring, three pieces of amber, and a bundle of cloth that detected as magical. Aeldred identified it as a Robe of Bones.
